WATER-WISE PROGRAM
Get on a more sustainable flow…
Georgia Interfaith Power & Light’s Water-Wise program is designed to help congregations understand their water usage and to explore and implement water-efficiency upgrades.
Water is one of the most precious resources we have. Likewise, conserving water resources is one of the most important things a faith community can do to combat the negative effects of climate change, resource depletion, drought, and habitat reduction.
GIPL has created a Water-Wise Guide to help congregations conduct a self-guided water assessment of their facility. The guide includes information about tracking and benchmarking water usage, evaluating building fixtures, and making upgrades.
Professional Audits
Congregations that demonstrate a need for additional support may enroll in our Water-Wise program to receive a professional water audit from one of our qualified engineers. This audit will include an analysis of water data from the congregation's campus, customized water efficiency projects, an implementation plan, and a personal audit review and debrief with GIPL staff.
Every audit requires a congregation to complete a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), a Congregational Background Sheet, and provide 13 months of water bills to GIPL. Professional audits are currently only available to faith communities in Metro-Atlanta.
To enroll, complete the application at the bottom of the page. If you have questions about the Water-Wise program, please check out the FAQ below and/or contact GIPL’s Program Coordinator, Ayesha Abid, at ayesha@gipl.org.
