Georgia Climate Conference 2019
Join leaders from the public, private, academic, and non-profit sectors sharing progress and identifying new opportunities to help Georgia take practical steps to respond to a changing climate. The GIPL team will be participating, and we hope you'll join us!
The 2019 Georgia Climate Conference is hosted by the Georgia Climate Project and aimed at supporting and accelerating Georgia’s efforts to take practical steps to minimize the risks and maximize the opportunities associated with a changing climate. The event will bring together 300 attendees representing multiple sectors and areas of expertise to collaborate, raise awareness of work across the state, highlight progress, and identify opportunities to do more.
This conference is the second-ever statewide climate conference, following a highly successful 2016 conference -- "Prepare, Respond, and Adapt: Is Georgia Climate Ready?" -- convened by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
Consistent with the overall vision of the Georgia Climate Project, the goals of the 2019 Georgia Climate Conference are to advance the following priorities:
- Stronger Network: A state-wide multi-stakeholder coalition that is driving change and is a resource for changemakers
- Science: Synthesizing what we know and analyzing what we don’t
- Stronger Conversations: Fostering a healthy, practical, nonpartisan discussion about what climate change means in Georgia and what we do about it
- Solutions: Taking practical steps to respond to climate change and its impacts
Topics include: Agriculture, Equity & Justice, Forestry, Education, Energy, Health, Infrastructure, Oceans & Coasts, Transportation, and Water
