Tell Congress:
No Free Pass for Fossil Fuels!
Congress is poised to pass a backroom deal that would strip away checks on the fossil fuel industry and silence the communities who will most live with the consequences. At the same time the administration is rolling back environmental safeguards across the board; the so-called “Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act,” or BAAJA, would weaken environmental protections, cut transparency requirements, and shut the public out of decisions around harmful fossil-fuel infrastructure projects.
Across Georgia, people of faith have seen what happens when neighbors are left out of the room. Pipelines get routed through the same communities again and again. Bills go up while families are told the decisions are already made. Our traditions call us to love our neighbors and protect the Sacred Earth we share, and that starts with making sure every community has a voice.
We need more clean energy, and fast. Supporters of this bill say it will help build it. But Congress shouldn’t hand the fossil fuel industry everything on their wish list in exchange for some clean energy reforms.
