2013 Energy Improvement Matching Grants

Power Wise, energy efficient church, energy audits for congregations, energy efficiency for congregationsThe November 15, 2013 grant cycle showed a large demand for GIPL’s Energy Improvement Matching Grants.  The grants committee met and selected 11 congregations to receive matching grants to help them implement energy conservation measures recommended in their Power Wise energy audits. The grant committee also considered the extent of the congregation’s creation care programs in their decision-making.The following congregations received 2013 matching grants:1. All Saints Presbyterian, Midland – Award = $3,268 for WIFI thermostats and attic insulation2. Christ Episcopal Church, Macon – Award = $1,150 for WIFI thermostats and attic insulation3. Fayetteville United Methodist Church – Award = $5,000 for additional direct digital controls for their HVAC4. First Baptist Church of Blakely - $3,129 for programmable thermostats and attic insulation5. First Presbyterian Church of Donalsonville - $2,848 for programmable thermostats and attic insulation6. Northminster Presbyterian Church, Macon - $6,000 for direct digital controls for upstairs HVAC7. Northwest Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Sandy Springs – Award = $7,956 for WIFI thermostats, insulation, duct sealing and upgraded high efficiency HVAC unit8. St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church, Marietta – Award = $6,875 for WIFI thermostats, attic insulation and upgrade to a high efficiency HVAC unit9. St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Atlanta – Award = $9,000 for LED lighting upgrade10. St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Decatur – Award = $2,000 for WIFI thermostats11. Young Israel of Toco Hills, Atlanta – Award - $2,400 for upgrade to 4 high efficiency HVAC units

Stayed tuned for more information about each of our winners.Our next deadline for Energy Improvement Matching Grant applications is November 15, 2014.  To be eligible, you must have received a Power Wise Energy Audit, submitted a final progress report indicating progress in implementing any previous grants and are implementing creation care programs at your congregation.
