Al-Farooq Masjid of Atlanta Receives GIPL Grant

Al-Farooq Masjid of Atlanta was awarded a GIPL Energy Efficiency Matching Grant to make improvements to their HVAC system in their building.  Al-Farooq completed an energy audit with GIPL last year to see where they could improve on energy efficiency, and they decided to use the grant to retro-commission their current HVAC Building Automation.  The mosque was awarded $5,000 in order to implement these changes. The updates to the HVAC system are estimated to cut the building's energy cost by at least 10%!Al-Farooq is a large masjid in midtown Atlanta that has two schools and a mosque that are dedicated to the teaching of Muslims in the Atlanta area.  The schools within the mosque have received GIPL grants as well in order to make their overall complex more efficient and sustainable.  Al-Farooq has committed to the care of creation and looks for new ways to incorporate sustainability into their community.Congratulations to Al-Farooq Masjid of Atlanta on their sustainability efforts and their continued work on energy efficiency!  We look forward to seeing how they grow in greening their deen.The next matching grant application deadline is November 15, 2016.
