GIPL Board Members Attend National IPL Conference

Highlights of our trip included an opportunity to reconnect with former GIPL staffers, Katie Preston and Alison Amyx, shown here at the expo reception.Board members Leslie Lyon-Watkins and Marti Breen attended the Interfaith Power & Light (IPL) Conference in Washington, DC April 7-9th. There were representatives of 38 state IPLs from Washington state to Washington, DC and the national office in attendance. The first two days were jam-packed with opportunities to share our successes, hear from some experts and be inspired by the good work our state chapters and member churches, synagogues, temples and mosques are doing.Katie Preston, now with Virginia IPL in Richmond accompanied Leslie and Marti to Capitol Hill.   On the final day of the conference, all the state representatives set off for Capitol Hill to meet with our Senators and Congressional Representatives, carrying the message of creation care.Later, Leslie met up with Alison to visit Representative Hank Johnson’s office and capture this picture with the Congressman.Group photo of all the people working to protect Creation through the IPL Network!
