Green Team Summit Featured Sponsor: The Green Queen
As part of our 15th Anniversary celebration, GIPL hosted the first annual Green Team Summit at The Temple. With over 125 participants and 57 congregations represented, the Summit offered workshops and special presentations on sustainability as a faith practice. This inaugural event was hugely successful and in large part because of our supportive event sponsors. One of those sponsors was The Green Queen, founded by longtime GIPL friend Jennifer Hankey. If you live in Atlanta, you’ve probably seen the Green Queen’s founder on any number of local television talk shows promoting eco-lifestyle and sustainable living. She became committed to reducing her family’s environmental footprint the more she learned about the harmful toxins found in a variety of home products. For example, traditional home and lawn care services use harmful chemicals proven by countless medical studies to harm the health of adults, children and pets. These chemicals have the potential to trigger allergic reactions, lead to cancer, disrupt your hormones, and affect normal brain functions. No thanks. That’s where the Green Queen comes in. As an avid researcher and teacher in the field of toxins and their effects on children, Jennifer has dedicated her life to educating thousands of parents, teachers and professionals about the dangers of chemicals in everyday products. Hankey uses her knowledge and working relationships with sustainable, health-conscious companies to provide eco-friendly services and solutions for families on a budget. The Green Queen has created organic, eco-friendly products to use in our non-toxic home and pest control services. These products cut out the use of traditional chemicals by more than 50 percent.
