Journey Men's Shelter in Atlanta, Georgia, received a GIPL Energy Efficiency Matching Grant to update their lighting and light controls for energy savings.  A grant of $5,983 was awarded to Journey Men's Shelter to implement more efficient light fixtures and controls for the lights after they completed an energy audit with GIPL.  The new lighting controls are estimated to save the shelter almost $2,000 in annual energy costs!Journey is a shelter dedicated to helping homeless men in the area self-sufficient.  Made up hundreds of volunteers and a driven Board, Journey Men's Shelter provides food, transportation, training, and other means of support to up to 26 men per day.  They are committed to making their facility more earth-friendly as well as teaching their visitors about Creation care and energy and water savings.  Journey partners with multiple churches around Atlanta.Congratulations to Journey Men's Shelter on their growing energy efficiency!  We look forward to working with them more on their Creation care efforts and seeing how they expand their environmental education program.The next matching grant application deadline is November 15, 2016.
