Cassie serves as a Program Fellow at Georgia Interfaith Power and Light (GIPL). She provides support to GIPL for programming and education related to water quality, data collection, data management, advocacy, and public health communication.
Cassie received a BA in Religion with a minor in Spanish from Birmingham Southern College, where she also worked at several churches and nature preserves around Birmingham, Alabama. At these nature preserves, her work focused on invasive species removal, conservation of endangered species, habitat restoration and rehabilitation, public access to green space, and ecological education for youth.
Cassie is entering her fourth year at Emory University as a dual degree student at Candler School of Theology and Rollins School of Public Health. At Candler School of Theology, she is working towards a Master of Divinity in the Methodist Studies program while pursuing ordination as a deacon in the United Methodist Church. She also serves as the Director of Youth Ministries at Embry Hills United Methodist Church. At Rollins School of Public Health, she is working towards a Master of Public Health in Environmental Health. She has a particular interest in the health of local waterways and public health education in religious contexts. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, swimming, art, and reading.
