Join fellow faith leaders at the Okefenokee Swamp on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, for a state-wide prayer vigil for the survival of the swamp and for decision-makers to have the wisdom and leadership to protect this sacred space for future generations.
The prayer vigil, led by Rev. Antwon Nixon, will be held at the edge of the Swamp from 9-10 a.m. This will be followed by a motorized boat tour of the Okefenokee from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Registration is required for the boat tour as there are limited spots available. You do not need to register to attend the vigil.
Click on the calendar until it brings you to Dec. 6, and then add your information.
We also encourage participants to support the park by purchasing lunch at the onsite Camp Cornelia Cafe and eating there from 12-1 p.m. Vegetarian options are available.
For those of you who will need accommodations the night before, we recommend these local options:
20% off if you mention Beth Remmes and that you are in town for the Prayer Vigil
There are also chain hotels in Waycross and Kingsland. Kingsland is closer to the Swamp, but Waycross is on the way from Atlanta.
Contact Beth Remmes if you have questions.
