What does the South System Expansion 4 (SSE4) methane gas pipeline really mean for the health, climate, and daily lives of people in Columbus?
Join Georgia Interfaith Power & Light (GIPL) and Science for Georgia for "The True Cost of SSE4," a community listening session on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Columbus Public Library (3000 Macon Road).
This gathering will bring together Columbus-area residents, faith leaders, educators, advocates, and community members who want to better understand the real-world impacts of SSE4. The session is designed to center community voices and lived experiences while exploring how the project affects local health, climate conditions, economic stability, and everyday life in the region.
Rather than formal presentations, the evening will focus on listening and dialogue. Participants will be invited to share questions, concerns, and ideas through guided discussion prompts, small-group conversations, community input boards, and live note-taking. The goal is to elevate local perspectives and use community insight to help shape future outreach, advocacy, and environmental justice efforts across the region.
This session offers an opportunity to learn together, listen deeply, and co-create a future that protects public health and the environment!
