2026 Ramadan Iftar Grant
Help your community honor the sacred month of Ramadan while caring for Allah's Creation.
Georgia Interfaith Power and Light’s Ramadan Iftar Grant initiative supports masjids and faith-based organizations hosting Iftar (breaking of the fast) meals reduce waste and model environmental stewardship during this holy season.
Grant recipients receive BPI-certified compostable materials for Iftar events, on-site volunteer training to ensure proper waste sorting, and support with composting costs as they divert food scraps and materials from landfills.
While the grant focuses on composting infrastructure and education, Zero-Waste practices extend beyond what any single grant can provide. We ask that, as faithful stewards, Khalifah, of this Earth, you also make an effort to educate your community where possible. This includes inviting attendees to bring reusable water bottles or take-away containers, replacing single-use items with reusable alternatives, and sharing why environmental care is a shared responsibility within Islam.
Our hope is that these practices not only reduce waste during Ramadan but also inspire lasting habits of environmental stewardship that continue throughout the year.
