Hannah Shultz (she/her)
Program Director | 404.377.5552 | hannah@gipl.org
Hannah first became interested in the relationship between faith and the environment through working in outdoor ministry at a Church of the Brethren summer camp where she helped youth explore their faith in the context of God’s Creation. Hannah’s interest in the intersection between justice, theology, and the environment led her to Candler School of Theology at Emory University where she received her Masters of Divinity (M.Div.) with a concentration in Justice, Peace-building, and Conflict Transformation. While at Emory, Hannah worked with Emory University’s Office of Sustainability Initiatives, coordinating a sustainability program in the residence halls to promote sustainable living and equip students to advocate for environmental initiatives on campus.
As the Program Director, Hannah manages GIPL’s Green Teams and outreach efforts as well as the development and implementation of GIPL’s practical climate solution programs, educational resources, and classes. Hannah oversees GIPL’s Solar Wise, Power Wise, Zero-Waste, and Water Wise programs bringing sustainable energy, waste, and water solutions to communities of faith. As one of GIPL’s Green Team Coaches, she also works directly with congregations to assist with launching a Green Team, developing sustainable practices, or taking environmental action in their communities.
Hannah also holds a BA in the Anthropology of Religion from Juniata College where she focused her studies in world religions and the intersection of religion and culture. Through work in college chaplaincy both at Juniata College and at Oxford College of Emory University, as well as a pastoral residency with Lititz Church of the Brethren in Lititz, PA, Hannah brings experience in interfaith dialogue and congregational and pastoral care. She enjoys helping to educate communities of faith in theological responses to the ecological crisis, particularly as it relates to issues of justice, and to work with them to implement practical solutions to climate concerns. In her free time, Hannah enjoys running, rock climbing, and exploring new parts of Atlanta.
