2024 Grant Application
Georgia Interfaith Power & Light's Power-Wise Matching Grant program provides up to $7,000 annually to congregations to support Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) within faith communities.
This is a matching grant. Recipients are required to make a contribution equal to the amount of the received grant for proposed ECM upgrades. For example, a congregation that receives a grant of $3,500 must contribute $3,500 to the cost of improvements.
In order to apply, congregations must have completed an energy audit in the past five (5) years and have a registered GIPL Green Team, or plan to start a Green Team in the next six (6) months. To register your Green Team please visit gipl.org/green-team.
Also, any requests deviating from the ECM listed in your Power-Wise Energy Audit must be justified with specific, detailed information comparable to the ECM.
If Georgia Power is your energy provider and you must have applied for Energy Efficiency Rebates for your project before submitting this application. To apply for Georgia Power rebates please visit, georgiapower.com.
Note: priority will be given to congregations located in low-income communities and communities historically overburdened by pollution. To check and see if your congregation is located in one of these areas, please use the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Environmental Justice Screening and Mapping Tool.
All applications must include a signed Leadership Supporting Letter. Download HERE. Sign and email the completed document to ayesha@gipl.org.
Lastly, if you have received a Power-Wise Matching Grant before, you must have completed a Final Progress Report for your project before being considered for an additional grant.
Power-Wise Grant applications open annually on Aug. 15 and close on Nov. 15. Grant recipients will be notified by the end of December whether or not a grant has been awarded to their congregation. Grant award amounts will be disbursed in early 2024. Download our Grant FAQ HERE.
