2025 Grant Application

Georgia Interfaith Power & Light's Power-Wise Matching Grant program provides up to $7,000 annually to congregations to support Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) within faith communities.

This is a matching grant. Recipients are required to contribute equal to the amount of the received grant for proposed ECM upgrades. For example, a congregation that receives a grant of $3,500 must contribute $3,500 to the cost of improvements.

To apply, congregations must have completed an energy audit in the past five (5) years and have a registered GIPL Green Team, or plan to start a Green Team in the next six (6) months. To register your Green Team, please visit gipl.org/green-team.

If Georgia Power is your energy provider, you must have applied, or plan to apply upon project completion, for any relevant commercial energy efficiency rebates for your project.

In partnership with UtilityGenius, GIPL now offers a commercial storefront where congregations served by Georgia Power can purchase discounted LED lighting and other energy-efficient products with instant rebates. Eligible congregations should visit giplgpc.utilitygenius.com to see how they can save.

Please note the following:

  1. Priority will be given to congregations located in low-income communities and communities historically overburdened by pollution.

  2. Any requests deviating from the ECM listed in your Power-Wise Energy Audit must be justified with specific, detailed information comparable to the ECM.

  3. All applications must include a signed Leadership Supporting Letter. Download HERE. There will be a place for you to upload this signed document in the application.

  4. In the application, you will also be asked to upload quotes/bids with pricing (labor and materials) for the projects for which you are requesting funding. Please have these ready to upload before you begin the application.

  5. If you have received a Power-Wise Matching Grant before, you must have completed a Final Progress Report for your project before being considered for an additional grant.

Power-Wise Grant applications open annually on Aug. 15 and close on Nov. 15. Grant recipients will be notified by the end of December whether or not a grant has been awarded to their congregation. Grant award amounts will be disbursed in early 2026.
