2026 ReWilding Grant Application

GIPL is excited to release another round of grants for congregational ReWilding projects! Congregations can apply for matching grants of up to $1,500 to support a ReWilding project of their choosing. Grants will be awarded for the implementation of projects that support ecological regeneration of congregational lands, restoring habitats and biodiversity, and fostering more resilient ecosystems and communities. The best applications will propose projects that are a part of a comprehensive sustainable landscaping effort.

Projects may include:

  • Pollinator gardens

  • Meadow installations

  • Bird sanctuaries

  • Community Gardens

  • Tree plantings

  • Food forests

  • Rain gardens or rain catchment systems

  • Projects are not limited to these ideas and imagination is encouraged!

Grant funding is not intended to be used for site assessments or removal of invasive species. We are available to consult with congregations on such projects, but they would need to be funded separately. ReWilding 101 Workshop facilitated by GIPL staff is available and encouraged for grantees new to rewilding efforts. Note: this is a matching grant, which means recipients are required to contribute equal to the amount of the received grant for proposed ReWilding projects.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must have an existing green team or starting a green team within 6 months of receiving the grant.

  • Proposed budget includes matching funds.

  • Applicants agree to submit final reporting including photos, relevant receipts/invoices, and final report form.

  • Projects align with ReWilding Program priorities.

  • Project to be implemented by the end of September 2027.

For questions, email ReWilding Project Coordinator, Heather Franklin, at heather@gipl.org.

Application opens May 15 and closes Aug. 15. Awardees will be announced by Sept. 15, with awards to follow.
