Connecting People, Planet, and the Green New Deal

  • New Life Church and Community Center 3592 Flat Shoals Road Decatur, GA, 30034 United States (map)

In April, DeKalb County Commissioner Ted Terry introduced a resolution to create a resident-led DeKalb Environmental Justice Commission to provide for collaboration, transparency, and ensure accountability to create a more equitable and sustainable future for all.

Join community leaders on June 29 from 9 a.m. - noon at New Life Church for an introductory forum to discuss the systemic issues impacting the county and how we plan to work collectively to solve these problems. The event will provide an update on Terry’s resolution as well as connect the progress of the Civil Rights movement with today’s call for environmental justice and sustainability for all communities.

The conversation will be led by Commissioner Ted Terry (DeKalb County District 6), Rev. Marlin Harris (Pastor, New Life Church), Codi Norred (Georgia Interfaith Power and Light), Pastor Lee May (Transformation Faith Church and former CEO of DeKalb County), Attorney Gerald Griggs (President, Georgia NAACP), Joanna Kobylivker (Adamah ATL Director), Lavonya Jones ( Director Just Energy, Partnership for Southern Equity) and Djuan Coleon (Environmental Policy Advisor DeKalb County and FUSE Executive Fellow)
