Our next Green Team Roundtable is on Tuesday, July 9 at noon on Zoom. The discussion will be led by South Georgia Organizer, Othellious Cato, and will consider the impact of "Urban Heat Islands" in Georgia.
These pockets occur when municipalities replace natural land cover with dense concentrations of pavement and infrastructure that absorb and retain heat. The effect is increased energy costs, air pollution levels, and heat-related illness and mortality.
